It is understood that this enterprise aiming to create a new "business card" of Tongling semiconductor industry settled in Tongdu Innovation Town in May 2017, is a high-tech enterprise invested by Beida Bluebird Group and established by Dr. Li Qiming team of Sandia National Laboratory of the United States Department of Energy. Mainly engaged in 4 inches and above high-quality, low-cost gallium nitride substrate research and development, growth, manufacturing and sales, is Tongling City's key investment project. The first phase investment is 500 million yuan, with an annual output of 100,000 gallium nitride wafers, an annual output value of 500 million yuan, an annual profit of 200 million yuan, and an annual tax of 50 million yuan.
"Compared to silicon-based gallium nitride, our product has ten times the switching speed, one-third the energy consumption, three times the power density, higher temperature resistance and better radiation resistance." Yao Jidong, deputy general manager of Gallium Special Semiconductor Technology (Tongling) Co., LTD., said that the project uses gallium nitride high-quality crystal growth technology and high yield self-stripping growth technology to produce large-size and high-quality self-supporting gallium nitride. After completion, it will fill the gap of domestic third-generation semiconductor materials. It lays a material foundation for the development and production of high quality power electronic devices, microwave devices and power devices.
"The gallium nitride project has brought Tongling not just a project, but a whole industry."
